Howevuh...

With the NFL Draft just finishing up, it led me to my search of good NBA Draft highlights since we are still a few months away from it and I happened to stumble across this fine video of guys heckling Stephen A. Smith. Quite Frankly, it made me laugh.

Ice, Ice, Baby

Yo VIP, let's kick it...

In honor of George "Iceman" Gervin's 55th birthday, here's a short interview with some footage of the Iceman and his finger roll.

Raptor Love

In honor of Toronto Raptor coach Sam Mitchell being named coach of the year, I'm giving out some Raptor love with this video of the top 10 Toronto Raptor dunks of the year and the unbelievable MoPete last second bucket video. Since I don't think I get Canadian basketball in the U.S., I was surprised to see that Bargnani can throw it down a little bit and former OSU Cowboy Joey Graham with some nastiness as well and I have no memory of the MoPete game tying buzzer beater so that was new to me.

No matter how bad the officiating...

Love this classic moment from Billy Tubbs in the late 1980s... What you don't get to see is his shocked face after the ref gives him a "T"...

This is the reason I'm a Bullets fan!

The Price brothers, 2/5 of the Fab Five, Big Gheorge Muresan... what a team! You the man, you the man!

Video Gaming

Stumbled across two of my favorite old school basketball video games. Straight 80's!
Couldn't find the Atari 2600 basketball to make it complete, but these two will do:

The White Shadow

Man, if you grew up in the late 70’s, then you should remember this show. “The White Shadow” was written around the storyline of Chicago Bulls forward Ken Reeves who was forced into an early retirement due to what else - a knee injury. His injury actually occurred on the basketball court (check out the television opening below) and not on a trampoline like the smart kids below this video.

Just Slam

The NBA playoffs are coming up, but I was wondering when do the Slamball playoffs begin? Unfortunately, it seems Slamball is nothing more than an occasional exhibition these days. Something about trampolines, basketball, and guys crashing into each other is mildly hypnotic.

This kid was on his way to a long, great slamball career until the mangled knee accident...

I hate Texas, but I love Kevin Durant

Not unexpectedly, Kevin Durant is set to announce that he plans on heading to the NBA. Easily one of the best college players I have ever seen, he made me actually want to watch Longhorn basketball this season.

USC, Here I come!

And I thought I was the only one who finished my high school career with an alley-oop to myself followed by me throwing the ball in the stands and being ejected with a minute to go in a blowout win. OJ Mayo is bringing his show to a town near you soon!

Not Your Average Cable Guy

Jim Carey does some serious hoopin' in this scene from "The Cable Guy." I now too run suicides to get warmed up before any pick-up games while hoping that none of my teammates are as bad as Matthew Broderick.

"I'll make it."

My favorite basketball movie of all time - "Hoosiers." This clip is the end of the championship game, but when I watched this recently I began to think that Coach Dale's original play call would be today's equivalent of Phil Jackson saying, "Kobe, they're going to expect you to take the last shot. We're going to use you as a decoy. Get the ball to Smush!" Thankfully, cooler heads prevail when Jimmy Chitwood says, "I'll make it."
If this were taking place in 2007, there would be firenormandale.com websites all over the place even after he won the game because of his near blunder during the last time out. Enjoy.

One Shining Moment

We are one week removed from crowing the Florida Gators the 2007 men’s basketball champions, so what better way to say so long to the ’06-‘07college basketball season than with a montage of “One Shining Moment” from 2007 all the way back to 1987.
C’mon, now, everybody sing…

The ball is tipped
and there you are
you're running for your life
you're a shooting star
And all the years
no one knows
just how hard you worked
but now it shows...
(in) ONE SHINING MOMENT, IT'S ALL ON THE LINE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, THERE FROZEN IN TIME

But time is short
and the road is long
in the blinking of an eye
ah that moment's gone
And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE

Feel the beat of your heart
feel the wind in your face
it's more than a contest
it's more than a race...

And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED FOR THE SKY
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU WERE WILLING TO TRY
ONE SHINING MOMENT....

One Shining Moment – 25 Years of Highlights

Umm, that's a charge

I think this girl has position and I think this guy gets lucky to get the any of the judges to give him a 3.

"I might just be a basketball machine."

Maybe one of the best Office pick up games ever... You can't stop Dwight Schrute, you can only hope to contain him!

They're playing basketball...

"Basketball has always been my thing. I like Magic, Bird, and Bernard King. And number 33, my man Kareem is the center on my starting team." - Kurtis Blow

If you were hoopin' in the 80's and ever went to a basketball camp, you couldn't escape this song. You have to love the seven foot goals and martial arts moves, and is that Gilbert Arenas soaring two feet over the goal for the mad dunks?

Kurtis Blow is blowin' up in this ultimate hoops song and that's why I'm making this the first of many posts to the hoops video page.
